Engine Specifications
Most of the trims come with an option of either 4x2 FWD or 4x4 AWD. The Trailhawk only comes in 4x4 all-wheel drive.
There are 3 engine options between the trims. The standard engine on most trims is a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine. For the Latitude Lux, 80th Anniversary Edition, Trailhawk, and Limited trims, the standard engine is a 3.2L Pentastar® V6 engine (the Trailhawk has a different transmission than the others). There is also the 2.0L Turbo engine standard in the High Altitude trim and available as an upgrade for the Latitude LUX, 80th Anniversary Edition, and the Limited trims.
Fuel efficiency is dependant on the motor and transmission of the vehicle. Jeep Cherokees with front-wheel drive 2.4L engines will get 22 MPG in city driving and 31 MPG in highway driving and that changes to 21 MPG / 31 MPG if the drivetrain is a 4x4. The 2.0L and 3.2L engines with standard transmissions for 4x2s get 20 MPG City and 29 MPG highway, which drops to 19 MPG City and 27 MPG highway for 4x4 AWD. And the 2.0L 4x4 and the 3.2L 4x4 with the 948TE transmission - which comes only on the Trailhawk trim - gets 18 MPG city and 24 MPG highway.
The 15.8 gallon fuel tank will ensure you can get to and back from any remote terrain or family destination you choose or just around NW Indiana, from Michigan City to Highland and La Ponte. From Merrillville to Hobart and Chesterton; or from Valparaiso to Portage and Crown Point.
Freature Differences
While there are many differences between the trims, especially with interior, technology, and safety features, three of the biggest, most obvious differences are with the price tag, body colors, and wheels/tires.
There are 10 factory colors available for the Jeep Cherokee. All the trims come in at least 7 factory colors. All trims all come with diamond black crystal pearl-coat, bright white clear-coat, and velvet red pearl-coat. The other available colors are: billet silver metallic clear-coat, olive green pearl-coat, light brownstone pearl-coat, granite metallic clear-coat, slate blue pearl-coat, sting-gray clear-coat, spitfire orange clear-coat, sangria metallic clear-coat, and hydro blue pearl-coat.
Jeep Cherokee Latitude
This is the lowest MSRP trim option, starting at $26,555 (with $1,500 more for 4x4). It does not come in the granite, sangria, hyrdo blue, or sting gray color options. A compact spare tire is available, but not standard. And the wheels are 17"x7" with all-season tires.
Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus
The Latitude Plus starts with an MSRP of $28,625 (with $1,500 more for 4x4). It comes in all the factory colors except hyrdo blue. A compact spare tire is available, but not standard. And the wheels are 17"x7" with all-season tires.
Jeep Cherokee Altitude
The Altitude starts with an MSRP of $30,065 (with $1,500 more for 4x4). It comes in the fewest color options, with only granite, silver, orange, and hydro blue beyond the standard three. A compact spare tire is available, but not standard. And the wheels are 18"x7" with all-season tires.
Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX
The Latitude Lux starts with an MSRP of $30,145 (with $1,500 more for 4x4). It comes in all the factory colors except hyrdo blue. A compact spare tire is available, but not standard. And the wheels are upgraded to 17"x7" with all-season tires.
